As part of its commitment to the continuous improvement of the quality of higher education, the National Agency for Evaluation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education and Scientific Research (ANEAQ-Morocco) welcomed, from 18 to 20 May 2026, a Pan-African external evaluation mission conducted within the framework of the HAQAA3 initiative (Harmonisation, Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Africa). The mission was carried out by a panel of African experts specializing in higher education quality assurance, designated by the AAU (Association of African Universities) and co-funded by the European Union.
This initiative is part of a broader effort aimed at strengthening the credibility, transparency and harmonization of quality assurance systems within the African higher education space. Like the higher education institutions evaluated by the Agency, ANEAQ itself is engaged in a rigorous internal and external evaluation process, in line with its mandate to evaluate the higher education and scientific research system in order to ensure its quality.
ANEAQ has been engaged in the HAQAA process since 2018, when a pilot external evaluation visit contributed to testing and consolidating the African Standards and Guidelines framework for quality assurance in higher education. The external visit programme also included exchange sessions with the Agency’s partners and stakeholders. During these three days, the African experts held working sessions with representatives of the Ministry, university officials, students, quality assurance officials from higher education institutions, as well as representatives of the socio-professional sector. These exchanges provided the panel of experts with insights into the quality of interactions between ANEAQ and its ecosystem, as well as the impact of its mandates and activities on the various stakeholders involved in higher education and scientific research. Through this evaluation, ANEAQ reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of its processes and the quality of the services provided to its stakeholders, thereby contributing to the visibility and recognition of Moroccan higher education quality assurance at the African level.
