Higher Education: Institutional Evaluations to Begin in 2020
In an article published on 20 November 2019, the daily newspaper L’Économiste discusses a new stage in the development of higher education evaluation and quality assurance in Morocco. The National Agency for Evaluation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Scientific Research (ANEAQ) is preparing to begin evaluating institutions from 2020.
An evaluation process underway since 2017
Having begun operations in 2017, ANEAQ started its work with an initial wave of study-programme evaluations. This was a step towards the gradual establishment of a national system for assessing the quality of higher education.
Institutional evaluation announced for 2020
The article highlights the prospect of a new evaluation phase focusing on higher education institutions. This development marks a shift from an approach initially centred on study programmes towards a more comprehensive institutional approach.
Institutional evaluation forms part of the missions entrusted to ANEAQ to support the development of quality assurance within the national higher education and scientific research system.
Strengthening a quality culture in higher education
The rollout of institutional evaluations represents an important stage in structuring the national quality assurance system. It helps establish evaluation as a means of continuous improvement and quality development in Moroccan higher education institutions.
